Understanding Feedback & Rating System

Ratings are perhaps the most important aspect of trading on Souq. Consistent positive rating lets buyers know that you are honest and dependable. Likewise, too many negatives will turn off buyers and lower your conversion rates. Buyers will bid more often and pay higher prices if you have a large amount of positive rating

Souq encourages its users to rate each other after every transaction. Ratings are dependent on actual experiences that users have had, while buying and selling. Buyer's rate sellers based on seller service and product quality. Sellers rate buyers depending on ease of transaction, receiving payments etc. There are three types of rating-Positive Negative and Neutral. .

Example:

Buyer's rating to seller:
Great service, Delivered the product on time and in excellent packaging! Recommended seller.

Seller's rating to buyer:
Genuine buyer. Quick in making payments. Highly recommended.

Before Buying and Selling, you can view the ratings of other users, which will help you take an informed decision. This way Souq guards against buyers and sellers who may have a bad history of transactions. By providing an open platform such as "Rating" Souq promotes the basic value of honesty.

How to rate another user?

You can rate the user you transact with through "My Control Panel" please remember that you can rate another user only if you have transacted with him/her on Souq.

Sellers and buyers can rate each other through My Control Panel/Selling or Buying/ Leave Feedback.

Tip : Give ratings to your buyers as soon as you complete the transaction. Giving feedback is important as it establishes you as a responsible seller and lets other sellers know of good buyers.

 

How to view other user's feedbacks?

To check users ratings, click on the user Souq ID. When you click on this ID, you will be lead to his profile. A user profile gives you an account of all selling and buying activities undertaken by him/her on Souq. When you click on "View Feedback" It gives you the user's ratings, status and the feedback that other users have left on him/her.

There is a number and a star sign that appears in the brackets next to the user's ID. This number and star sign gives you the rating status of the user. This number in the bracket denotes the total Positive ratings subtracting-total Negative ratings the user have received from every user.

Example:

ID: aboud (10) this means that the total positive rating is (10)

ID: aMr (-1) this means that the total negative rating is (1)

also each amount of Positive Ratings have a different star:

How to view your own feedbacks?

You can view your own feedbacks from My Control Panel/Selling or Buying/View Feedback.
Or simply by clicking on your ID.

Feedback abuse policy

Members should use caution and good judgment when leaving feedback for another member, because:

  • Feedback cannot be edited or removed once it has been left. It becomes a permanent part of a member's record and is viewable by the entire Souq community.
  • Members could be held legally responsible for damages to a member's reputation if a court were to find that the remarks constitute libel or defamation.  Souq does not censor feedback or investigate it for accuracy, Souq is not legally responsible for the remarks that members post, even if those remarks are defamatory. However, this law does not protect the person who leaves the feedback from responsibility for it.

Don’t abuse the feedback system. Souq will remove feedback ratings and comments if they meet the standard for feedback abuse outlined in the sections of this page below.
In addition, Souq can offer members the opportunity to withdraw feedback ratings ONCE only and only if both parties have come to an agreement mutually to withdraw their respective feedbacks and modify them themselves.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

    • Account suspension
    • Feedback removal

Feedback abuse and removal
Feedback that meets any of the circumstances below is feedback abuse and may be subject to removal.  Feedback that doesn't meet any of the reasons outlined below will not be removed:

    • If the feedback comment contains profane, vulgar, obscene, or racist language or adult material is subject to removal. Inflammatory language, such as "liar, fraud, cheater," etc., while strongly discouraged, will not be removed.
    • If the feedback comment contains personal identifying information about any member of Souq and deemed to be in violation with Souq privacy policy.
    • The feedback makes reference to Souq, its affiliates or partners, or any UAE government entity/authority.
    • The feedback comment contains links or scripts.
    • Feedback left as a result of a genuine mistake, at Souq.com’s discretion.
  • Feedback left by a member who bid on or purchased an item solely to have the opportunity to leave negative feedback for the seller, with no intention of completing the transaction.
  • Members whose overall positive feedback drops below the 80% positive rating will automatically be suspended.
  • If feedback is deemed to be retaliatory by Souq, then the feedback will be removed from the recipient of the feedback and the offending party will forfeit the right to leave feedback.

 Feedback Extortion
Threatening to leave negative or neutral feedback for another member unless the other member provides goods or services not included in the original listing is not permitted.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Account suspension
  • Forfeit of Souq fees on cancelled listings

FAQs

When can my account be automatically suspended?

    • Members that earn a feedback rating of -2 (minus two), will be automatically suspended.
    • Members whose overall positive feedback drops below 80% positive rating will automatically be suspended.

     

 What is a threatening feedback? Is it permitted?
Threatening to leave negative or neutral feedback for another member unless the other member provides goods or services not included in the original listing is not permitted.

 Can sellers restrict leaving feedbacks in their terms and conditions?
Sellers are not permitted to include in their listings or terms of sale any conditions that limit or restrict the buyer from leaving feedback.

 What is feedback manipulation? Is it allowed?
Feedback left or received where the feedback’s primary value is to artificially enhance a member’s reputation rather than provide commentary on genuine transactional experience is not permitted.
As such, offering to sell, buy or barter feedback is not permitted. In addition, registering multiple accounts (or working with others) in order to exchange feedback to artificially increase your feedback score is not permitted.

What is the feedback policy on fraudulent items?
Unfair feedback on fraudulent items can be reported within seven business days. If no documentation to prove that the item is fake is provided; feedbacks will stay unchanged. And will be removed if item is proven fraudulent.

 

 

What happens to the feedbacks if no-sale on an item is reversed?
If a no-sale claim is reversed; feedbacks will be re-set as a result so that both the parties can go ahead and leave their again.

 

 

What happens if an unfair feedback is claimed due to delay in delivery from a third party?
If it is proven that a delivery partner was at fault; feedbacks will be re-set for users. They can leave it again. Otherwise they stay unchanged.

 

 

What happens if a feedback left is a clear case of retaliation?
If feedback is deemed to be retaliatory by Souq.com, then the feedback will be removed from the recipient of the feedback and the offending party will forfeit the right to leave feedback.
